The Wilson family from Longs, SC, is South Carolina's only family to be featured on the Emmy Award winning Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Until January 25, 2007, the family lived in a crumbling trailer, held together with duct tape. Over the course of a week, the home was demolished and replaced. The new home was a dream-come-true for a grandmother and her four grandchildren.
In an extreme effort to show the program's 20 million viewers that South Carolina cares for its neighbors, Sterling Homes and Conway National Bank (CNB) created a sustaining expense and scholarship fund to aid this deserving family.
Background:Renee Wilson lived in a small trailer in the Longs Community of Horry County, with her four young grandchildren. Renee has provided a loving, nurturing home to these four children, ages 6 to 11, despite the lack of space and worldly goods.
Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Hall Custom Homes and hundreds of volunteers joined forces to build a new home that will provide security and new living space, within which Renee may continue to lovingly raise her grandchildren in a safe, secure home.
In order to insure that this family can live securely in their new home for many, many years to come, the builders have established a bank account with Conway National Bank, to receive donations from caring citizens of the community, the state of South Carolina, and of America. The account will assure payment of utilities, insurance, taxes, and miscellaneous home repairs.
In addition, the account will be available to pay for educational expenses, as they may occur, for each of the four children.
Donations may be made tax free to the account. You can make a deposit directly into the designated account at any Conway National Bank office or online on this site through Pay Pal.
At the top of the PayPal page, the owner of the account is listed as "United Way of Horry County." If you see that, you're in the right place. The United Way is the group administering the Renee Wilson Extreme Home Fund.
"Conway National Bank is delighted to assist in this worthwhile community endeavor", stated Mr. Bill Benson, Senior Vice President.
